❄️ Spot Overview
Narusawa Ice Cave is a natural lava tube located in the Aokigahara Forest at the base of Mt. Fuji. Formed by the eruption of Mt. Nagao in 864, the cave maintains a year‑round temperature close to 0°C, creating impressive ice pillars and frozen formations even in summer. Visitors descend through narrow, low tunnels into a circular 150‑meter route that showcases ice walls, stalactites, and ancient lava textures. As one of Japan’s designated Natural Monuments, the cave offers a unique combination of geology, history, and adventure. It is also located near the Fugaku Wind Cave, making it easy to visit both sites together.
